Andrea LeClaire, MSHA, BSN, RN, NEA-BC
Andrea LeClaire, BSN, MBA, has over 30 years of experience in hospital administration and nursing. She spent 12 years as the Program Director for the Department of Psychiatry at Children’s Hospital Colorado. She currently works full-time as the Nurse Manager for the Adult Inpatient and Residential Programs at the Eating Recovery Center in Lowry, CO. She additionally is in the process of completing a doctorate program in nursing, at the University of Colorado. As Chairperson of the Board for EMPOWER, she is responsible for convening and presiding over regularly scheduled Board meetings, at least twice annually. It is estimated she will devote 10-20 hours annually, and will not receive monetary compensation for her role.
EMPOWER Board Treasurer
Bryan Downey, MBA
Bryan Downey, MBA, is currently serving as the Clinical and Business Administrator for the Department of Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital Colorado. He formerly served as the Business Manager for the Department of Psychiatry at Children’s Hospital Colorado and has additionally served on the Board of other non-profit organizations, including interacting with board treasury officers, related to the reporting and approval process. As Treasurer of the Board, he is responsible for preparing and presenting a financial report at each Board meeting. He additionally serves as Chairperson for the EMPOWER Finance Committee, assists in preparation of the budget, helps develop fundraising plans and makes financial information available to other Board members along with the public. It is estimated he will devote 10-20 hours annually in this capacity and will not receive monetary compensation for his role.
EMPOWER Board Representative
Alexis Giese, MD
Dr. Alexis Giese is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist who has practiced in the Denver area for over 26 years. She brings an enormous breadth of experience to EMPOWER, including psychiatry education & training, inpatient psychiatry, outpatient practice, community programs, and healthcare systems. She is a Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Family Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine (UCSOM). Dr. Giese currently serves as Senior Vice President of Behavioral Health at Colorado Access (Medicaid) as well as Director of Community Outreach at the UCSOM’s Depression Center. She is actively engaged in advancing practice and healthcare systems, promoting integrated care and telehealth, as examples. She holds the role of Board Representative for EMPOWER and in this role is responsible for attending and participating in Board meetings and other Board correspondence and activities. She will not receive monetary compensation for her role to which she is expected to devote 10-20 hours annually.
